Description
A Black-crowned Night Heron caught in one of those brief pockets of evening light where everything just comes together. The sun found the bird through the shadows, lit up that incredible red eye, and turned the water below into gold.
I stayed with this one for a while, watching it quietly work the edge of the water. Sometimes the best light lasts only a few minutes.
